You don’t have to just manage anxiety, you can heal it. Our therapists treat the root cause, not just the symptoms. Results in 8–12 sessions.
This is not a personal failing. It is a public health reality. Anxiety disorders alone increased by 63% between 1990 and 2023. Nearly 1.2 billion people worldwide are living with a mental disorder right now. And 71% of that burden could be reduced with the right treatment.

Anxiety therapy helps you understand what your anxiety is trying to protect you from, while giving you practical tools to calm your body, challenge fear-based thoughts, and build a stronger relationship with yourself.
At Shakti Therapy, anxiety treatment is personalized. We do not treat anxiety like a generic symptom checklist. We look at the whole picture: your thoughts, body, relationships, culture, family system, work pressure, trauma history, and the deeper patterns that keep your nervous system on alert.
Our anxiety therapists support clients in Culver City, Redondo Beach, and virtually throughout California.
Anxiety does not always look like panic. Sometimes anxiety looks like being the responsible one. The high achiever. The one who handles everything. The one who keeps it together until your body finally says, “I cannot keep doing this.”
You may know logically that you are okay, but your body does not feel okay. That is why anxiety therapy has to work with more than thoughts. It has to include the nervous system, the body, and the deeper stories your mind has learned to believe.
Anxiety can show up as
There is rarely one single cause. Anxiety develops from a combination of biology, life experiences, nervous system patterns, relationships, culture, and stress. At Shakti Therapy, we help you understand the roots instead of blaming yourself for the symptoms.
When your nervous system has been under pressure for too long, it can get stuck in fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. Everyday situations feel threatening even when there is no immediate danger. You feel like you are always scanning, preparing, anticipating, fixing, managing, or bracing.
Past trauma, childhood stress, emotional neglect, family instability, medical trauma, racial trauma, or relationship wounds can keep the body in survival mode. Even when the event is over, the body may still respond as if danger is present.
For many of our clients, anxiety is not just personal. It is cultural. Achievement pressure, family expectations, immigrant survival patterns, silence around mental health, perfectionism, shame, religious expectations. In some families, anxiety gets mislabeled as “being responsible.” Therapy helps you separate what is yours from what you inherited.
Anxiety often tries to create certainty. It tells you that if you plan enough, fix enough, achieve enough, or stay ahead of everything, you will finally feel safe. But the more you try to control everything, the more exhausted you become.
Anxiety can show up in relationships. You may fear rejection, abandonment, conflict, emotional distance, or being misunderstood. This can lead to overexplaining, chasing reassurance, shutting down, or losing yourself in other people’s needs.
You look completely capable from the outside. You perform at work, in relationships, in every room you walk into. But the cost inside is real. High-functioning anxiety is anxiety that has learned to hide behind achievement, and it is one of the most common presentations we see in Los Angeles.
At Shakti Therapy, we support clients dealing with many forms of anxiety. Each one requires a different understanding and approach.
Persistent worry, tension, overthinking, and feeling like your mind will not shut off.
Sudden waves of intense fear, racing heart, shortness of breath, dizziness, shaking, or fear that something is seriously wrong.
Fear of judgment, embarrassment, being seen, being rejected, or not knowing how to act in social situations.
Looking calm and capable on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, tense, and exhausted inside.
Fear of abandonment, uncertainty, rejection, conflict, or not being enough in relationships.
Persistent worry about your body, symptoms, illness, safety, or medical uncertainty.
Decision fatigue, pressure, burnout, loneliness, imposter syndrome, and the emotional intensity of building something while trying to hold yourself together.
Intrusive thoughts, fear something bad will happen, identity shifts, sleep disruption, overwhelm, and the pressure to be a "good mother."
Anxiety connected to belonging, family expectations, bicultural identity, intergenerational trauma, shame, or feeling caught between worlds.
“We treat your nervous system, your story, and your culture, together.”
Our work is not about forcing you to “just calm down.” That does not work because anxiety is not just mental. Anxiety lives in the body, the nervous system, the stories you carry, the roles you play, and the meanings you have assigned to past experiences.
At Shakti Therapy, anxiety treatment is integrative and personalized. We look at the whole picture, not just the surface symptoms.
CBT helps you identify anxious thought patterns, challenge distorted beliefs, and build healthier responses to fear. This can be especially helpful when anxiety shows up as catastrophic thinking, perfectionism, avoidance, reassurance-seeking, or self-doubt.
One of the most well-researched treatments for anxiety, with large effect sizes confirmed across multiple meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials.
Somatic therapy helps you notice where anxiety lives in your body and teaches your nervous system how to return to safety. This may include grounding, breathwork, body awareness, movement, and nervous system regulation practices.
Anxiety is not just mental. The body holds it. The body has to be part of healing.
IFS helps you understand the parts of you that worry, protect, control, avoid, people-please, or panic. Instead of fighting these parts, we help you understand what they are trying to do for you and how to lead yourself with more compassion and clarity.
Rated effective for improving general functioning and well-being by SAMHSA’s National Registry for Evidence-based Programs.
Brainspotting can help access and process unresolved emotional material that may be stored beneath conscious awareness. This can be helpful when anxiety feels connected to trauma, body memory, or emotional activation that talk therapy alone has not fully resolved.
An emerging modality with a growing evidence base. Studies show symptom reductions comparable to EMDR in published trauma research.
Mindfulness helps you observe anxious thoughts without becoming consumed by them. Breathwork helps regulate the body and signal safety to the nervous system. These are tools you carry everywhere, and they work at the physiological level where anxiety actually lives.
Culturally responsive mindfulness integrated with Eastern philosophical traditions when relevant to the client’s background.
For some clients, when clinically appropriate, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy may support anxiety connected to depression, trauma, PTSD, burnout, or stuck emotional patterns. Ketamine therapy is not the first step for everyone, and it requires proper screening.
Peer-reviewed research supports lasting reductions in anxiety and PTSD symptoms at 3 and 6 months post-treatment in eligible clients. PubMed, 2024.
Anxiety therapy can be highly effective, especially when treatment is matched to the person’s symptoms, nervous system, history, and goals. At Shakti Therapy, we do not see anxiety as a personality flaw. We see it as information.
Your anxiety is showing us where your system learned fear, control, pressure, protection, or hypervigilance. Therapy helps you understand those patterns and build new ones so anxiety no longer runs your life.

“The goal is not to never feel anxious again.”
The goal is to feel more steady, more connected to yourself, and more capable of moving through life without your nervous system constantly hijacking you.
Treatment outcomes vary by individual, symptom severity, and consistency of care. Research cited reflects published study findings, not guarantees of individual results. Your therapist will discuss realistic expectations with you directly.
Anxiety and depression often overlap, but they do not always feel the same. Understanding the difference helps you get the right support.
Fear, urgency, restlessness, overthinking, panic, or the sense that something bad might happen. Your nervous system is stuck in preparation mode, scanning for threats even when you are technically safe.
Heaviness, numbness, hopelessness, low motivation, disconnection, or the sense that nothing matters. You may feel like you are watching your life from behind glass rather than living it.
Some people experience both at the same time. You may feel wired and exhausted. Overwhelmed and numb. Restless but unable to act. Scared but shut down. That is why therapy needs to look at the full picture, not just one symptom.
Therapy can help when anxiety is affecting your sleep, relationships, work, body, self-worth, or ability to feel present in your life.
You do not need to prove that your pain is “bad enough.” If anxiety is taking up too much space in your life, that is enough reason to get support.
Therapy is most powerful when you arrive while you still have the bandwidth to do the work. You do not have to be in crisis to deserve care.
We understand anxiety shaped by family expectations, immigration stories, intergenerational trauma, identity, shame, achievement pressure, and silence around mental health. You do not have to explain the cultural layers from scratch.
We work with your thoughts, emotions, body, nervous system, and deeper sense of self. Healing is not just about symptom reduction. It is about coming back to yourself at the level where the anxiety actually lives.
Our anxiety therapy may include CBT, somatic therapy, IFS, mindfulness, Brainspotting, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy when clinically appropriate. Modalities that serve the person, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
