Holistic, Nervous-System-Based Therapy in Los Angeles: Culver City, Torrance & Virtually Across California
Anxiety. Trauma. Burnout. Grief. Perfectionism. They look different from the outside, but they’re often the same story: a nervous system that adapted to survive, and never got the signal that it’s safe to stop.
Most people across Los Angeles come to us after years of managing symptoms: the books, the podcasts, explaining their patterns to yet another therapist, and still feeling stuck. That’s because insight alone doesn’t heal what the body learned to do to protect you. Below is what we treat most often at our Los Angeles practice, and how we actually think about each one.

A growing list of what we treat, and what’s driving it.
Every condition below links to a full breakdown of how we understand it, what causes it, and how treatment actually works at Shakti’s Los Angeles offices in Culver City and Torrance, or virtually anywhere in California.
High-functioning, hard-to-explain, always-on. The racing mind, the tight chest, the constant bracing for something to go wrong, even when everything looks fine. We treat it at the nervous-system level, not just the thought level.
Trauma isn’t only what happened to you. It’s what your body decided to become because of it. We use Brainspotting and somatic work to help the past stop running the present.
Grief doesn’t follow a timeline, and it isn’t only about death. We treat the losses that don’t get casseroles too: identity, relationships, the life you thought you’d have.
Depression can look like sadness. It can also look like numbness, exhaustion, and going through the motions of a life that used to feel like yours. We treat the root, not just the mood.
You look calm. You look capable. Inside, you’re bracing. High-functioning anxiety hides behind competence, and it’s one of the most common, least-named things we treat.
Intrusive thoughts, checking, mental rituals that quiet the anxiety for a moment and then come back louder. OCD responds well to a specific kind of treatment, and we build it around what’s actually driving your cycle.
Not a focus problem. A nervous system wired differently, and a long history of being told to try harder. We help you build a life around how your brain actually works, instead of fighting it.
When rest feels unproductive and “enough” never arrives. Burnout and perfectionism are often the nervous system’s response to a life built on proving your worth.
Racing thoughts you can’t think your way out of. A body stuck in fight, flight, or shutdown. We use somatic therapy, IFS, and Brainspotting to help your body learn safety again.
For first- and second-generation clients, high-achievers, and cultural navigators holding two worlds at once. Some patterns were never yours to begin with. They were inherited.
Most men are taught that needing help is the problem, not the thing that’s actually wrong. We work with men who are ready to stop carrying it alone: anger, numbness, relationships, and the pressure to have it all figured out.
Most people who come to us don’t walk in with a clean diagnosis. They walk in exhausted. A free consult helps you name what’s actually going on before you commit to anything.
Most of what we treat doesn’t arrive with a clean label. If you’re not sure where anxiety ends and burnout begins, or trauma ends and perfectionism begins, that’s normal, and it’s exactly what the first session is for.
That’s the most common way people arrive here. Most conditions overlap: anxiety often lives alongside perfectionism, trauma alongside depression. Your free consultation is where we help you understand what’s actually driving it, not just what to call it.
No. Most clients come in with more than one thing going on at once, and our approach is built around root causes that often show up across several conditions, not treating each symptom in isolation.
Anxiety is often a general state of bracing; a trauma response is your nervous system reacting to something that specifically resembles a past threat. In practice the two frequently show up together, which is part of why we assess for both.
We’re private-pay with monthly superbills for PPO out-of-network reimbursement, and we accept HSA/FSA. Individual sessions start at $199.
